Description

For lots of reason, my spring astrophotography has been hindered for both joyful and typical challenges.

First, my wife and I welcomed our daughter into the world in early March!!! We have taken great joy in being parents for the third time, but also are still on the grand adventure of parenting/juggling three kids. Second, it feels like the midwest is constantly covered in a layer of clouds anytime the moon is less than 60%. When it has been clear the wind and or seeing has been problematic. All of these subs were with seeing that was between 4-5" FWHM. Definitely not ideal for galaxy seeing. Third and Finally, I have had lots of trouble with finding and maintaining accurate guide stars on my zwo OAG. I finally put the 600mm guide scope back atop my C9.25.

This project was my first attempt to complete luminance data 1x1 bin and combined with drizzled 2x2 bin data for my RGB and Ha channels. I did this in an attempt to better match my sampling of my scope and increase my color signal. I feel pleased with it for the first go, but the image seems to be nosier due to the process. With the process, I was excited to see the 3 continuations of the spiral arms visible on the right hand portion of the image.

M101 Grand Desing Spiral Galaxy in Ursa Major (The Bear). The galaxy is 27 million light years away and measures approximately 170K light years across, twice that of the Milky Way. It contains an estimated 100 billion solar masses.

Title: Dec 2022 Salvage Attempt

Description: A redo edit of the worst project I worked on in the last 2 years. I wanted to see how my processing would improve. This was also my first attempt to apply Blur xterminator to any image. I also put noise xtterminator to good work. I still will never take any further photos at the 4x4 bin setting on the 294mm. At 9.2um the star color was absolutely awful.
